Boomerang Beach boardrider, Charlize Everitt has won the final of the under 14 girls’ Surfer Groms Competition, at Macauleys Beach, Coffs Harbour on Sunday, October 29.

The 2017 competition, presented by Wahu, wrapped up in climatic style, with seven new champions being crowned.
Charlize was able to claim the top spot on the dais thanks to a handful of impressive turns, which propelled her ahead of her competition.
Along with the other category winners, Charlize received an invitation to attend an all expenses paid three day Woolworths Surf Camp at the Hurley Surfing Australia High-Performance Centre (HPC).
Oscar and Leila Salt from Boomerang Beach also returned successful results, placing fourth in the under 14 boys, and third in the under 12 girls respectively.
Earlier in the competition, Forster’s Jay Pink put in a commanding performance in the under 14 boys round one, performing an exciting array of backside snaps to put himself into a solid position going into the second round.
Unfortunately Jay couldnt hang onto the head start, and the under 14 boys category was won by Touma Cameron from Suffolk Park.
More than 100 competitors competed in the two-day event, which saw some of the nation's most promising young surfers competing for a range of prizes, both in and out of the water.
The event is regarded as one of the major stepping stones in the development of young Australian surfers, and caters for surfers from under eight to under 14 and, and is held across most Australian states.
In the 2017 event series, over more than competitors entered and competed across the various competitions.
