Safety fences came down earlier today, Monday, April 26 with repairs to the beach retaining wall and a number of improvements completed at Tuncurry Rockpool, on time and budget.

"Access to one of our most popular waterside locations has been vastly improved, with wider promenades, stepped and ramp access to the sand and new hand rails installed," MidCoast Council community spaces, recreation and trade manager, Dan Aldridge said.
Stage one was completed in time for the Easter holidays, with the shared walkway directly in front of the kiosk extended and widened, tiered steps that double as seating constructed down to the beach, and ramps and handrails installed to provide improved all-ability access.
All works are now complete, and we are awaiting the arrival of extra seating for the promenade area, which will be installed once it is delivered.

Following the holidays work crews returned to complete the area in front of the car park to widen the walkway and construct two access ramps including one that provided easy truck access to the beach during sand harvesting.

"All works are now complete, and we are awaiting the arrival of extra seating for the promenade area, which will be installed once it is delivered," Mr Aldridge said.
Visitors to the Rockpool are reminded that this spot is not patrolled, there are strong currents that can pose a risk to swimmers, particularly at the southern edge near the safety net, and to exercise caution at all times.
