The project to upgrade the promenade will be carried out in two distinct stages, beginning with the area directly in front of the Rockpool Café.
In this first stage, the shared walkway will be extended and widened, tiered steps that double as seating will be constructed, and ramps and handrails will be installed to provide improved all-ability access.
"The rock pool is a popular drawcard for locals and visitors, and these improvements will mean even more people can enjoy this recreational space.

"The rock pool is a popular drawcard for locals and visitors, and these improvements will mean even more people can enjoy this recreational space," MidCoast Council community spaces, recreation and trades manager, Dan Aldridge said.
"The outcome will provide better access from the promenade to the beach, and a significant increase in seating," he said.
In stage two, crews will move along to the area in front of the car park to widen the walkway, and construct two access ramps including one that provides easy truck access to the beach during sand harvesting.
The upgrade has been planned to take place following the peak summer holiday season, beginning this week and continuing through to the end of April, weather-permitting.
To minimise the impact of the works on holiday-makers, crews will break during the Easter long weekend, downing tools on Thursday, April 1, and returning to work on Tuesday, April 6.
While traffic flow and use of the area around the café will be maintained throughout the construction period, parking capacity will be reduced with several car park spaces allocated for storage of materials and equipment.
Visitors to the area are asked to be alert to construction activities on the site, to remain outside of fenced-off areas, and to follow all signage and directions from crews as required.
Swimmers are also asked to be aware of strong currents that can pose a risk to swimmers, particularly at the southern edge near the safety net, and to exercise caution at all times.
The pool is unsupervised and does not have a lifeguard on duty.
The pool will remain open to swimmers throughout the project.
