However, the drought breaking rain has come with a price, taking a costly toll on roads and bridges.
MidCoast Council crews have been prioritising repairs in road safety and access concerns to ensure residents get access to their properties safely.
On-call teams have worked through the weekend to install closure signage, establish detours, remove debris, and provide temporary repairs where possible.

Crews will continue on the ground to address the most critical defects as their first priority.
"Ensuring residents can get to and from their homes safely is our primary concern," MidCoast Council infrastructure and engineering services director, Rob Scott said.
"But, the extent of the damage caused in the past few days means we can't get to everyone's road immediately", he said.
"Once we can restore access across all impacted areas, crews will move onto addressing more widespread pot hole repairs."
Rainfall on the Mid Coast over the past week exceeded the total received in the entire 2019 year period.
Damage to roads and bridges was sustained across the entire region with closures including the Bight Bridge in Wingham, Possum Brush Road, Shorts Road, Yarratt Road, Peter Garret Bridge, Mooral Creek Bridge, Failford Road and The Lakes Way at Tallanbah Point to name just a few.
A culvert that washed out on Craven Close in Gloucester, leaving residents stranded, was responded to quickly by council's road maintenance and water services teams.

"Temporary repairs were made at the site to provide access, and water crews fixed the water main that had been taken out," Mr Scott said.
"This is a really good example of why no-one should ever drive through floodwater, as you can't see what is happening under the water."
