The popular Tuncurry Rock Pool has been forced to close after the safety net was extensively damaged during the weekend's wild weather.
"Strong currents have compromised the integrity of the net," MidCoast Council community spaces recreation and trades manager, Dan Aldridge said.
Mr Aldridge said repair work would begin once the turbidity of the water subsides.
"We have a spare net already waiting, conditions just have to change." he said.
He said the current conditions did not meet safety standards for the staff and divers who would undertake the work.
Mr Aldridge estimated the pool could be closed until the end of the week.
The Bull Ring at Forster remains open.
