The pool will reopen for the last time during the 2019 - 2020 swimming season, but from there the site's future is undecided.
Among the suggestions that emerged during initial consultations between council and the community back in 2017 was the possibility of a waterpark being constructed at the site.
This idea will again be floated in 2019, and if it is well-received by the community and seen to fit their needs, council will move towards preparing detailed plans for its construction.

"The 2017 consultation results showed a very strong and clear endorsement for the site to include a children's wet splash pool area, a facility that locals and visitors alike have called for, and not currently available in the Forster Tuncurry area," council's community spaces, recreation and trades manager, Dan Aldridge, said.
"We're looking forward to planning the next stage of this site together with our community."
The pool, which was built in the early 1970s, will be closed after the 2019 - 2020 season because it no longer meets current safety and operational requirements and has attracted increasingly low usage in recent years.
