This was the first time the fixture had been played and Jake was in the NSW green team, which won the series overall. He came away with gold overall, gold for the fours and silver for the pairs.
This was a tremendous effort by both him and his team, and was illustrative of his great ability which has developed over some years. Surely the State selectors will have taken heed of his results.
Next month, the annual cities versus country series will be played at Cabramatta BC, albeit under a new format.
This year, the selectors have picked 20 boys and 20 girls to play in four teams of 10 over three test games.
This year, Zone 11 has three representatives, Jake Reid, Malachy McTaggart from Pacific Palms and Eva Williams from Forster.
This is a huge step for Eva, who has shown tremendous potential from day one and will surprise many bowlers over the coming years with her skill.
Jake and Malachy have taken part in the event before.
From this series, the NSW gold and silver squads will be selected, through a different format this year to previous events.
There will only be 12 juniors selected in the gold squad, from which the State sides will be chosen.
The silver squad will comprise no more than 40 juniors.
The Zone congratulates Eva, Malachy and Jake on their selection and wishes them every success in their games during the series next month.
