The next market, scheduled for August 26 will provide a platform for the group of dedicated environmentalists to gather much-needed funds to support Aussie farmers.
“We will be raising the price of our boomerang bags from $2 to $3 on the day, and every cent of that will go straight to drought relief,” Boomerang Bags Pacific Palms member, Nicola Carruthers explained.
“The wonderful market organisers have jumped right on board with us, and will match what we make dollar for dollar!”
The fundraising goal for the event is $1000, but with more than $100 already raised, Nicola has high hopes for the impact the group can have.
“The Lakes Way Bakery has allowed us to sell our bags through them, so we have already got a bit of a head start, and we are looking forward to seeing how far we can go at the markets,” Nicola said.
“As a group, we feel our mission and values have been embraced by the Pacific Palms community, especially the market organisers, and we are really excited to help out and hopefully make a bit of a difference for those who are having a hard time in the drought.
“We will be donating the money to a volunteer organisation where we can be sure it will all go straight to the farmers, and we hope with the extra support of the market group that we can really help out.”
