IN JUST her second ever women's rugby union game, Courtney Suggate picked up seven tries for the Dianas on the way to their fourth victory on the weekend. Suggate scored each of Leeton's seven tries against Hay on the weekend during their 35-19 victory, impressing everyone at the ground on the day. Coach Stuart Stout said it was definitely the highlight of the match. "This was only Courtney's second game, she's new to town and decided to give rugby union a go, so it's pretty amazing," he said. "She played really well the week before, so she finished off all of the good work the rest of the girls were doing on the field. "It was a great effort." Elsewhere on the ground Stout said the team as a whole played well. The Dianas dominated in the forwards, which gave their backs really good ball. Stout said it was the best game for the backs all season. "It showed when the forwards do their job, it makes it a bit easier for the backs," he said. This weekend the Dianas head back to Wagga where they will face the Aggies. Ag College are currently fifth on the ladder and are fighting for their place in the finals. The Dianas will be out to spoil this party on Saturday. While they themselves won't make this year's finals series, they will be aiming to push these sides and make life difficult for them in the lead up. "It's going to be tough, Ag College have good numbers, where as we will probably be going over with limited reserves," Stout said. IN OTHER NEWS: "In saying that we'll certainly be looking to put our heads down and play like we have been over the last couple of weeks." Leeton only have a handful of games remaining this season, but already Stout said the side was eyeing the future. "The girls are already talking about next season and what they can be doing to prepare early on, so that's really pleasing," the coach said. The Phantoms third grade side will return to the field this weekend to also tackle Wagga Ag College. The fifth-placed Leeton side are pushing for a spot in the top four of the third grade fixture. Ag College are currently sitting in sixth, or last, on the third grade ladder. Our journalists work hard to provide local, up-to-date news to the community.
