He progressed through the round stages on the first day to set up a run to the final.
Oscar claimed wins in his quarter final and semifinal matches, beating eventual overall winner Jarvis Earle and runner-up Lennix Smith.
He then finished third in a tightly contested main event. Avalon’s Luke Dujic finished fourth.
Oscar will join fellow Great Lakes competitors Jay Pink, Leila Salt, Vinnie Everitt and Charlize Everitt at the fourth leg of the series in Coffs Harbour on October 28 to 29.
The series is contested for groms under eight to under 14s. It is regarded as a stepping stone in the development of Australian surfers.
Jay Pink from Forster also was a participant in the national grom series event.
He moved through the round stages of the under 14 boys’ division, qualifying for the quarter final.
In the semifinals, Jay fell just short for a shot at the main event that would feature fellow Great Lakes competitor Oscar Salt.
