More than a dozen of the refill stations have been placed around the area in parks, sporting grounds and beachside areas.
Anthony Hensley supported the scheme as an alternative to buying water.
“Biggest scam ever, selling bottled water,” he commented.
Eighteen different spots have had new taps installed, you can check their locations here, but Lynne Annetts voiced concern that the taps had not been allocated to all the most necessary spots.
“What about the Lakeside Walkway in Forster; no taps anywhere in town,” she said.
Scott-Jenny Crittenden was all in favour of taking the scheme even further to provide a solution for our furry friends as well.
Anthony Cresswell conveyed doubts about the allocation of council funds.
“Love how council spends money on water filling stations and an outdoor gym set down near the marine rescue when Forster is a massive fishing town and yet we have the dirtiest, smelliest cleaning tables in town,” he said.
“There are stainless tables at Tuncurry, the Keys, and Greenpoint, yet we have to put up with old fibro cement tables, blocked drain pipes, and no shade or lighting.
“It’s about time we got new facilities.”
The refill stations, placed in various locations throughout the Manning and Great Lakes, are about providing the community with a choice for drinking water when on the move, rather than having to resort to bottled water.
