Boomerang Beach siblings Koby, Leila and Oscar Salt are being joined by Forster’s Jay Pink and Ross Cadden for the four day event that commenced on Tuesday, September 26.
They have all reached the final of their respective divisions in previous years.
The festival was founded and is directed by surfing legend Barton Lynch and maintains a focus on enjoyment and performance improvement, rather than competition.
Surfing icons Layne Beachley, Tom Carroll, Rabbit Bartholomew and Damien Hardman will attend the festival to provide inspiration to the next generation of Australian champions.
The competition is run in gender and age categories from six to 14 years of age.
The groms will also experience a mobile training program- a free elite coaching program.
Whale Beach and Avalon will act as a back-up location if surf conditions are unsuitable.
The event concludes on Friday, September 29.
Meanwhile, the group had recently competed at the 2017 Kirra Teams Challenge on the Gold Coast, where they finished 11th out of 30 teams.
Leila, Koby and Oscar’s father Adam noted that the group were very competitive against some of the “super powers” of the sport.
