Trailing 24-6 at the break, second row forward Luke Ross, was dismissed for an alleged high tackle in the first play after the resumption.
Wauchope’s speedy backs were able to take advantage of the extra man, running in tries at will against a quickly tiring defence.
As often happens in these situations, it seemed the harder they tried, the worse it got.
The Forster-Tuncurry Hawks will need to regroup before taking on the Taree City Bulls at Tuncurry’s Harry Elliott Oval on Sunday, July 2.
The Hawks reserves, struggling for numbers, put in a whole hearted effort despite going down 28-4 while a depleted under 18s outfit were outplayed by the Blues and suffered an 18-10 defeat.
The ladies league tag side made sure it wasn’t all bad news for the Hawks, scoring a comfortable 22-0 win over their Wauchope counterparts with Alexandra Edwards and Lisa Bullivant being among their side’s best.
