The proposal, for a mixed use development including council's new library, visitor information centre and community space, is located on the corner of Lake, West and Middle streets, Forster.
A comprehensive model of the development and copies of the development application and planning proposal have been on display at council's Breese Parade administration centre throughout the exhibition period.
In addition, all project documentation is also available for viewing online at www.midcoast.nsw.gov.au
Member for Lyne, David Gillespie congratulated MidCoast Council on its pursuit of the landmark development.
“Council has had the foresight to identify a community need, and then develop a proposal that will deliver significant social and economic benefits for our region.
“This is a unique opportunity to transform the old school site into something very special for our area.
“I am delighted that our government has been able to commit $6 million towards this exciting development.
“It will deliver a new multipurpose community facility including library, visitor information centre and community space – meeting the needs of the community today and long into the future.
"In addition to these benefits, the overall project will activate and reinvigorate the precinct, including the adjoining town centre, providing a significant number of short and long term jobs which is great news for the local economy."
Submissions, which must reach council by 4.30pm on Friday, can be made in a number of ways including using the online option on Council's website, by emailing council@midcoast.nsw.gov.au or post, addressed to The Interim General Manager, MidCoast Council, PO Box 450, Forster, 2428.
