The AGM in November saw many new faces join the club’s committee, bringing renewed enthusiasm and ideas.
The club has invested in a new playing strip for all its teams, and has also purchased around 200 new footballs to ensure that there will be one ball for each player in every age group at every training session.
Even the Tuncurry Sports Complex is getting a revamp, with a planned new pitch for the under eight and nine players, as well as one for the under 10 and 11, due to be established as part of the main complex rather than utilising the cricket oval as was the case in 2016.
TFFC’s junior academy will also undergo expansion in 2017 under the supervision of FFA advanced C licenced coach, Scott Fletcher.
The club now runs a skill acquisition program (for players aged from nine to 12-years) as well as an academy for 13s to 15s that offers a high level of training for players keen to raise the level of their game.
The academy teams form the basis for sides that participate in regular development days with Newcastle based clubs.
The first of these is with Kahiba FC on February 12 at Tuncurry, with matches for teams from under 12s through to under 18s.
Broadmeadow Magic will return to Tuncurry with their youth teams on March 19.
TFFC will upgrade it’s coach education program as well this year with regular demonstration and information sessions, along with providing all coaches at the club with access to a comprehensive coaching library.
The club also has acquired new training equipment to keep training sessions challenging and varied.
Coaches keen to further their formal training through FFA courses will be offered financial support by the club to do so.
All coaches will be invited to a coaches and managers’ evening in March to finalise details for the upcoming season, which for juniors begins on Saturday, April 29.
With the success of the Tigers’ women’s team in 2016, TFFC is also looking to build female participation in the game in 2017, with plans for all-girls junior sides to be entered into Football Mid North Coast competitions.
In 2017, all football registration will be done online - go to www.myfootballclub.com.au to register.
TFFC’s new registrar Amanda Chapman (0437 067 117) will answer any questions you might have.
