Completed just prior to Christmas thanks to state government funding, Coomba Park’s new ramp has been in action for the season’s influx of tourists, resolving safety concerns associated with the old ramp.
“These works will continue with further upgrades planned for the carpark at Coomba Park boat ramp, some finishing touches to the Pacific Palms and Smiths Lake boat ramp carparks and planned upgrades for the carpark at Tuncurry boat ramp,” MidCoast Council’s Natural Assets Officer, Drew Morris said.
Contractors will also start on replacing the existing jetty at Tuncurry, which will include an expanded pontoon to increase temporary mooring near the boat ramp, easing congestion. Upgrades to the Coomba and Pacific Palms jetties are also due, and further south, upgrades are planned for the Tea Gardens, Pindimar and Allworth foreshores.
Boating infrastructure plans are being developed between Midcoast Council and Roads and Maritime Services, in cooperation with local communities for the townships of Nerong, North Arm Cove and Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest.
"There has been a significant amount of work undertaken in the last year to upgrade the boating infrastructure facilities across our region and this will continue throughout the year" said Mr Morris said.
"We’d like to thank the community for their continued patience during these upgrades and we hope they enjoy the upgraded facilities," added Drew.
