Focusing on their High Performance Squads, for the first time they combined players from the National Premier League (NPL) and Women’s Premier League (WPL) squads as well as the Under 12 Skills Acquisition Program (SAP) Metro development squads for the region.
All squads received recognition for their performance with highlights including the 14s NPL being premiers and winning their grand final, the 16s WPL making the grand final and the 14s WPL taking out the premiers spot but unfortunately losing the grand final. The 14s were also acknowledged for finishing as premiers and winners of the prestigious Kanga Cup held in July in Canberra.
Chairman Mike Parsons acknowledged the depth of talent of the Mid North Coast region and the benefits players developed as part of these high performance squads. This was highlighted by the recruiting of a number of players by the Emerging Jets including Emmeline Pepper, Layni Fens, Mona Walker, Sam Modderno, Keegan Hughes and Ethan Pollard-Smith. A special mention was also made to Jack Page who was selected as part of the NSW squad who won the Australian Championships in WA in August this year for the NSW PSSA Football Championships (Primary Schools Association) which covers all primary schools in NSW.
A moving tribute was paid to WPL Head Coach Matt Baker who is retiring with over 10 years of service as a Coach with Football Mid North Coast. Players who had been coached over the years by Matt acknowledged the positive influence he had had on their lives both on and off the field.
Football Mid North Coast thanked the support of its sponsors and awards were presented. Sam Bestwick from Forster won the Player’s Player and Bianca Mason from Bulahdelah won the Golden Boot for the WPL First Grade; Under 18s WPL Katie Reeman from Rainbow Flat won Player’s Player, and Bianca Mason again won the Golden Boot; Under 16s Abby Whitton from Forster won the Player’s Player; Under 14s Jess Henwood from Forster won Player’s Player and the Golden Boot went to Forster’s Indi Simon.
In the NPL awards, Forster’s Levi Barclay won the Under 14’s Player’s Player; Under 13s Charlie Naylor from Forster won the Coach’s Award.
