The Dolphins is one of only four teams in country rugby – including Newcastle and the Illawarra – to remain undefeated at this stage of the season.
The record was sorely tested in the return game against Wallamba at Nabiac when the team scraped home in an 8-7 nail-biter.
In a game where handling errors had players under constant pressure, only a superb defensive effort from all players secured the win.
Playing depth is being tested at the moment with no less than eight players being unavailable due to injury.
Credit must go to those bench players who have had to step up and become 80 minute players.
Big Nigel Pereira is one example.
A veteran Dolphin, last weekend Nigel had planned to travel to Moree for a few days of fun with the Golden Oldies.
Instead he was drafted to play a full game of first grade in Gloucester where he starred in the 47-7 win.
Only three competition rounds remain and with a 13 point buffer at the top of the competition table the club seems assured of winning another minor premiership.
We host Myall Coast this weekend and then travel to Taree to play the Ratz, both games we should win.
Our final round game on August 6 will be at home to Wallamba.
It will not only be another tough game but will be important psychologically as both teams will meet again the following week in the major semifinal.
Hopefully we will have players returning from injury.
At the August 6 Wallamba game, just before kick-off, we will be holding another of our World War I service commemorations.
We are also planning to have a Golden Oldies game prior to the main match.
Following the game we will be holding our famous Golden Flipper Race Night.
See the attached flyer for details.
We thank our sponsors and supporters. We’d love to see you at the rugby.
