Directed by Steven Spielberg, this beloved fantasy story features Sophie (Ruby Barnhill), a young orphan who is in for the adventure of a lifetime when she meets the Big Friendly Giant (Mark Rylance).
The BFG snatches Sophie and she expects the BFG to cook her for dinner. Naturally scared at first, the young girl soon realizes that the 24 foot behemoth is actually quite gentle and charming. As the friendship between Sophie and the BFG grows, her presence attracts the unwanted attention of Bloodbottler (Bill Hader), Fleshlumpeater (Jemaine Clement) and other giants who love to eat children. By contrast these giants are destructive, loud and scary.
So Sophie and the BFG travel to London to convince Queen Victoria to help them get rid of all the bad giants once and for all. Although there are tense moments of danger and scares, the movie offers discovery of friendship and family, courage and humour.
