While they have been together for seven years, Peter has been growing his locks for more than 11-and-a-half years.

But on March 19 at 4pm, Peter is taking part in the World’s Greatest Shave and getting rid of his long locks to raise money for The Leukaemia Foundation.
“I can’t think about it at this stage,” Lauren said.
“It’s going to be weird. I don’t know if I’ll be able to recognise him, I’ve only known him with his dreadlocks.”
When Peter and Lauren first met, it was Peter’s personality that won her over. However, she said the dreads were definitely something she liked.
“A few people have said I might divorce him, but I think he will be right.”
Peter said although he was getting sick of the dreadlocks, he saw it as a brilliant opportunity to raise money for charity.
Peter will be part of the 150,000 people around Australia who, from March 10 to 13, will shave or dye their hair to help people with blood cancer.
More than 12,000 Australians will be diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma this year, which equals 34 people every day. Money raised will give families the emotional and practical support they need, and fund urgent research to save lives.
Peter said he has already raised around $1000.
“I don’t have any attachment to my dreadlocks,” Peter said.
“I’ll probably cry when they come off but it’s something that will happen. Hopefully I look alright bald.”
Peter hopes to shave the dreadlocks off at his workplace, the Pacific Palms Recreation Club.

Another resident getting involved in the popular fundraising and awareness raising campaign is Forster man Travis Moffat.
His father and grandfather suffer from bowel cancer and his wife’s pop has cancer in the stomach.
That’s why he will dye his beard dark blue during the World’s Greatest Shave in March.
“My wife is happy for me. It’s a great thing to do,” Mr Moffat said.
“There are a lot of unfortunate people out there with cancer and they shouldn’t have it, especially kids,” he said. “I’m hoping science can come up with a cure, and the sooner the better.”
