Fishing at John Wright Park on Friday October 9, John caught a 90cm and 85cm flathead.
On the Saturday he caught another similarly sized fish and on Friday a week later he caught another.
Before his recent run, Kevin said he usually doesn’t enjoy such similar success catching big fish.
Kevin said he fishes “virtually every morning.”
Kevin said he practices catch and release with the big beasts, acknowledging the important role they play in maintaining healthy fish populations.
“Anything over 50cm I release,” he said.
“When they get to that size, they’re breeders and if we don’t keep putting them back, there’ll be no stock to fish from.”
The legal limit for dusky flathead in NSW is 36cm and the bag limit is 10.
Only one fish over 70cm is permitted.
