In the last 10 days 200mm of rain fell on Forster and 185mm on Smith’s Lake.
Weatherzone meteorologist Rob Sharpe the average September rainfall for Forster is only 60mm.
“That amount of rainfall is pretty rare this time of year,” Mr Sharpe said.
“So far Forster has had 226mm of rain this month. September has just eclipsed January, which had 223mm.”
Mr Sharpe said a low pressure system had lingered over the Tasman Sea which sent a series of troughs up the NSW coast.
Forster’s wettest September on record was 331mm, in 1908.
