Ellie, 12, was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in December last year and Sonia organised a fundraiser night on July 31 to raise funds for the family.

“The fundraiser went really well,” Ms Hawkins said.
“I got to watch my daughter smile and laugh and have fun all night long.”
The fluoro disco and auction fundraiser was also a thank you for everyone who has supported them through Ellie’s battle.
Ms Hawkins said, along with other donations, they raised about $10,000.
“I was extremely overwhelmed by the community’s generosity,” she said.
“I was overwhelmed people would be willing to give without expecting anything in return.
“It was so great to replace the vision in my head of her in hospital with the image of her laughing and smiling.”
