Awards were presented for lifesaving, competition and club trophies. The Member of the Year Award went to member Allan Bawden.  Patrol Member of the Year was Janet Robertson and Encouragement Awards went to Debbie Gresham, Natallie Kelly, Jarrod Royal and Kathy Barry.  The Patrons Award to went to junior members Cooper Smeaton and Adam Koch and the President’s Award went to Kerry Scott for her outstanding contribution during the year.  Brock Van Kampen and the Masters Ladies Boat Crew (The Pearls) took home the Competition Awards.

Club Distinguished Service Awards were received by Jeff Horn, Raelene Carmichael, Lyn Graham and Geoff Whitehouse.  National Patrol Service Awards were received by Peter McTiernan, Grant Gardiner, Graham Mashman and Raelene Carmichael.  Club Member Brendan Guiney collected the prestigious Ray McDonagh Honour Award for his service during the season.  Sixty nine members received awards for attaining 100 per cent patrol awards with 138 members carrying out 3754 patrol hours on the beach with no lives lost for the season. 

The evening’s highlight was the club’s most prestigious award, with the Club Life Membership being awarded to our outgoing president Paul Scott.  Paul has served twelve years as president together with other important portfolios in that term.  He has carried out those duties in an unselfish professional manner and has now decided to have a well earned rest. The club thanks Paul for his efforts over time, as he has been the mainstay in the redevelopment of the surf club to what it is today.

The club’s annual general meeting was held last Thursday evening at the clubhouse with Gary Curtis taking over the reins from Paul Scott as president. A number of new faces have appeared on the new committee with work now commencing in preparation for the forthcoming season patrols.
