The AGM was a very sedate affair with the whole thing done in less than 30 minutes. For the most part, the executive committee stayed the same with a few people swapping positions and a couple of new members taking on roles as well. The committee for the 2015-16 season is as follows:president, Peter Camileri; vice president, Lee Sullivan; secretary, Vanessa Croker; treasurer, Tracey Sewell; and junior development officer, Richard Sewell.
The presentation awards were sprinkled with trivia questions, reflections on the season, entertainment from Matt Zarb and an absolutely forgettable performance from four of the crew who summarised the season in song.
Club president Pete Camilleri devised some special awards for the evening for those people who had 'memorable' moments during the season and they were as follows:
The award for lack of vision went to Marc Dorfling for forgetting to rinse the soap from his goggles before hitting the water at Ironman this year.
For 'Going the Distance' Simon Gay was awarded for running an extra half a lap at Challenge Forster last November.
For constantly whistling while riding in a group, Paul Nixon was awarded Most Annoying
For reverting to secret materials to hold her body together, Sonia Kennedy was awarded the Bionic Woman award and Dru Prewitt was awarded the 'Longest Transition' award for insisting on impeccably clean feet during transitions.
The point score trophies are presented to the male and female competitors in each grade from E to A who accrue the most points over the course of the season. They might not win their division at the races but consistency is the key to winning these awards.
* E Grade: Emma Sewell and Terry Robinson.
* D Grade: Sue Kirk and Garrie Foster.
* C Grade: Vanessa Croker and Bruce Hopper.
* B Grade: Janelle Evans and Rob Gander.
* A Grade: no female award, but the point score was a tie between Simon Gay and Richard Sewell.
The overall club awards are the most important awards each year as they represent the most outstanding achievements for the year and they are as follows:
* Most Improved Female: Kristy Aldridge.
* Most Improved Male: Simon Gay.
* Club Person of the Year: Dave Fitzhardinge.
* Junior Triathlete of the Year: Josh Godwin.
* Triathlete of the Year: Hayden Smith.
Many of our members are now back into training over the winter months getting ready for next season, with Richard Sewell putting in the extra hard work at the moment for the Kona World Championships in October and our newest member, David Castle who is heading to the World Para Triathlon championships in Chicago in September.
Club races will start again when the weather is a bit more pleasant.
