Mr Fitzgerald, a local resident and long-term library member, recently turn 100 and, as part of his 100th birthday celebrations, decided to donate $500 to the library.
The library has increasingly become an important part of Mr Fitzgerald’s life, especially since he has had to cut back on more strenuous activities.
Ted felt he wanted to give something back to a service that meant a lot to him.
“We really appreciate Ted’s donation,” Great Lakes Library manager Chris Jones said.
“What a great way to celebrate such a milestone. We’ll make sure the donation goes straight towards some new books for the new library.”
