THE Hawks have suffered their first defeat of the 2015 Group 3 Rugby League season, going down to the Port Sharks 22-10 at Port Macquarie on Saturday.

The Sharks led 18-0 at the break and 22-0 early in the 2nd half before the Hawks mounted a comeback of sorts, classy centre Chris Simon posting first points for the day followed by a length of the field try to half back Byram Stewart cutting the Sharks lead to 12 points.
Coach Troy Hilder wasn’t too disappointed after the game, reciting missed one on one tackles and dropped kicks as an area that he will work to improve on.
There were plenty positives to be taken out of the game, not least the emergence of young Riley Glover who stepped up from the Under 18s to make his full 1st Grade debut for the Hawks, playing the hooker role.
It will be an entertaining weekend coming as the Harry Elliott Oval in Tuncurry plays host to the Under 14s and 15s Country Rugby League Championships on both Saturday & Sunday while the Hawks are making a trip to Old Bar on Sunday to take on the Pirates with the Ladies kicking off at 11.30 and 1st Grade at 3.00pm
In other grades
THE Lady Hawks scored a 20 points to 4 win over the Sharks. It was the Hawks leading 6-4 at the break before they found their usual rhythm and eased away for a comfortable win.
The Under 18s played out an exciting 18 all draw against the Sharks after coming from 16-6 down midway through the second half, while the Hawks Reserve Grade outfit went down 28-16 in an exciting encounter.
