The request from Stephen Ballantine (copied to the Great Lakes Advocate) comes after Great Lakes Council voted not to support a motion put forward by Councillor Linda Gill to ban Coal Seam Gas (CSG) fracking in the area.
But the mayor said yesterday morning she had not seen the request and added.
“Why doesn’t he just ring me.”
Ms McWilliams said she had already seen the movie in Queensland and wouldn’t be able to make the local screening of Frackman at the Tuncurry Twin cinemas on March 27 at 7.30pm due to a prior engagement.
The movie screened at Taree cinemas last Thursday night to a packed house of 300 concerned residents.
It tells the story of the impact of CSG development around the Chinchilla area in Southern Queensland.
In his letter Mr Ballantine describes fracking as an ‘outrageous danger’.
“There is evidence already that the chemicals AGL is using in the fracking process, are showing up in the Manning catchment system.
“Madam Mayor, this is your drinking water too,” he wrote.
