It was a US quinella with Mees (from Michigan) winning from fellow American Henry Wiles. Aussie veteran Paul Caslick was third with the host, Troy Bayliss fourth who suffered from a bad start.
Bayliss was also the defending champion.
Mees is the third winner of the event after Michael Kirkness in 2013 and Bayliss last year. He was invited to the classic by Bayliss when they rode at the Superrestigio at Barcelona last December. This was his first trip to Australia but he is likely to return to defend his title in 2016.
Taree's Josh Hook was a finalist, but missed the podium.
Caslick led the final before being overhauled in the final stages by Mees and Wiles.
Bayliss noted later that he would have liked the race to have been six laps longer so he had a chance to try and run down the front runners. Bayliss did have the fastest lap time in the final.
Earlier in the night the American run-off events saw Troy Herfoss see off all-comers to take the Americana win ahead of Luke Richards and Troy Bayliss. Herfoss also went into the Troy Bayliss Classic Cup race as the hot favourite on the night but the Goulburn based Honda rider ran wide while working his way up the field and crashed out uninjured.
Chris Watson won the star-studded Legends category.
