The works have been able to go ahead due to a partnership between NSW Trade and Investment (Crown Lands) and Great Lakes Council.
Crown Lands is currently working to strengthen the Forster Breakwall against the constant onslaught of the ocean.
“While the works mean that the Breakwall footpath will be closed on week days throughout November, the result will see the Forster Breakwall continue to provide safe passage for marine vessels into Cape Hawke Harbour,” NSW Trade and Investment’s construction supervisor Richard Good said.
The works are similar to those which were recently completed on the Tuncurry Breakwall. The Tuncurry Breakwall has now reopened.
NSW Trade and Investment has also undertaken repairs to the marine wall along the Harbour foreshore adjacent to the Tuncurry Rockpool kiosk.
“The works included relocation of a section of concrete path that was subsiding,” Mr Good said.
Works were also undertaken at the Tuncurry Rockpool carpark by council to improve the surface and increase the number of car parks.
The works should be completed in time for the summer holidays.
