It is believed that Curtis broke two vertebrae in his neck and could not feel his arms and legs and was flown to Sydney.

A Facebook page called Curtis Landers: Road to Recovery has been established and it says that he can move his arms but not his legs and that he requires a tube to help him breathe.
A recent post states: "He drifts in and out of consciousness but is getting all the messages. He is sedated to prevent him from moving and has halo traction! He has a bit of feeling but he also has a long road ahead of him - he will be down there for months. Will know more later today after he has more tests."
Fellow Hawks player Kylie Hilder is currently organising a raffle to assist Curtis and his family and has already been pledged support by the Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club and the Forster YMCA.
Curtis is a year 10 student at Great Lakes College and the Advocate believes a special assembly is being held this morning to inform students of the situation.
