In June, Tuncurry was rocked by a deadly gas explosion which killed 80-year-old John Richard Fischer.
Now, a local woman whose house neighbours the property is still waiting to have her home repaired, and signs protesting about the wait have been erected on the surrounding fence.
The large metal fence which cordons off the entire perimeter of the home has been flooded with small notes and Christmas cards in support of the homeowner.
In recent weeks there have been several painted signs put up around the front of the home in what appears to be a protest against ANZ Insurance.
Some of the signs erected have painted messages which state: “ANZ Insurance fix this house. Shame on you” and “ANZ don’t care”.
It is unknown who exactly has placed the signs on the property but soon after they were put up, notes and cards with condolences began appearing on the fence.
One of the notes has been stuck on a Santa stocking with: “ANZ give these people their life back” written across it.
Another says “Six months to this stage, the lord’s work was done in a week,” and “In defence to the fence take it away and give her home back”.
The Great Lakes Advocate has attempted to contact the owner of the home but was unsuccessful.
Anita Bulmer, who lives next door, says she fully supports her neighbour.
Ms Bulmer says her front windows as well as blinds and carpets were badly damaged from the June 14 explosion but she was still able to move back into her home nine weeks later.
“I really do feel for her because I know what it was like for nine weeks,” she said.
“It’s terrible being shoved out of your home.
“I really hope she gets to move back in soon. It’s hard to know why there is such a long wait for her.”
An ANZ Insurance spokesperson said the company has been “working closely with the customer to resolve her claim and will continue to work hard to get her back in her home as fast as possible”.
