The season had its ups and downs with the lead changing on several occasions and it was so close with two games to go. A rather difficult season for Forster as we had to have two teams competing in grade two.
Our team that won were so delighted with the win and now they face off in the regional play-offs against the winning sides from Hastings District and the Macleay District commencing June 17 at Wingham Bowling Club.
All winners from grades one through to four will be contesting the regional play-offs at Wingham and of course we are hoping that Forster can win here and then they would have the privilege of attending the state finals in the Soldiers Point area this August.
Members of the Forster winning side were: Maree Lees, Val Beuzeville, Pam Woolmington and skip Cheryl Hartley. In the sister side were Helen Davies, Janet Campbell, Julie Scott and skip Barbara James. We wish all these ladies good luck in the play-offs. Commiserations must go to the other grade two team competing for Forster as they were runner-up and narrowly missed out on winning this event. Ladies in this team were Peggy Lawton, Helen Dean, Marion Salvia, skip Marina Clark and Maureen Johnson, Carole Wright, Barbara Rowe and skip June Wall.
The flag unfurling day for this event is to be held on Thursday May 2 and all teams that this winning side played against have been invited to attend, including executive members of the District Association.
There will be a march of the winning team onto the green, where all invited guests will be in attendance and the district president, Paula Body, will then pin the pennant badges onto the Forster ladies. This will be followed by the flag being unfurled, a game of bowls and then lunch. These days are very memorable for the winning team, so congratulations ladies, you did your club proud.
