MidCoast Council has responded to claims made in print media and on social media regarding the operation of its Forster-based ageing and disability service, MidCoast Assist.

Formerly known as Great Lakes Ageing and Disability Services, the service has been providing a range of support services across the region, and now the Mid Coast, for more than 20 years.
A spokesperson has confirmed council is in dispute with the United Services Union on the issue of payment to support workers for sleepover shifts.
I would also assure all clients and participants of MidCoast Assist that our staff are continuing to deliver on our mission to deliver the best outcome to them, and no services or programs are impacted by this matter.

MidCoast Council general manager, Adrian Panuccio, said council was committed to resolving the matter fairly for all parties involved.
"I would also assure all clients and participants of MidCoast Assist that our staff are continuing to deliver on our mission to deliver the best outcome to them, and no services or programs are impacted by this matter," he said.
Mr Panuccio said council would not comment further on the matter given it was subject to legal proceedings in the Industrial Relations Commission.
