Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead's promise to deliver a public hospital for the people of the Great Lakes reached a significant milestone earlier today, Friday, April 23 with the announcement an independant consultant had been appointed.

Mr Bromhead said the consultant would assess and make recommendations to the State government on various location options for the facility.
"Options could be the Great Lakes council site or to purchase vacant land," Mr Bromhead said.
"They will look at various options.
"Choosing the right location is a crucial part of the planning process and the consultant's report will be central to locking in the right site for Forster Public Hospital."
However, Mr Bromhead reminded eager residents the hospital could not be delivered 'overnight'.
It needs careful consideration and planning to ensure it is able to best service the Great Lakes community, he said.

While a number of options on what form a public medical facility would take, Mr Bromhead assured it would include an emergency department.
"It will include a number of services, but an emergency department is what the people have been asking for."
Golden Ponds Retirement Resort and Village manager, Stephen McGarrigle said today's announcement was music to his ears.
"This will be a fantastic thing for the whole area," Mr McGarrigle said.

He believed a public hospital could only been positive and would benefit local resources.
"Including ambulances which make a lot of trips to Taree."
He acknowledged Mr Bromhead's initiative; delivering on a promise that he made at the last election.
"Forster Tuncurry is already a retiree's dream location and having a local public hospital will ensure the region's health infrastructure is better equipped to support the many that choose to make that dream a reality."
Mr Bromhead said he expected the consultant's report would be completed in the next few months.
