A man was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle following a boating accident in the Myall River at Tea Gardens on the afternoon of Saturday, January 9.

The 85-year-old was one of two men assisted by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter critical care paramedic team, NSW Police and NSW Ambulance paramedics.
According to rescue helicopter spokesperson, Graham Nickisson, the men were thrown into the water when their boat flipped near mangroves.
The 85-year-old was winched from the scene suffering from exhaustion and flown to John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle in a stable condition for further assessment, while the second man was helped ashore by police and assessed by paramedics.
He was believed to be in a satisfactory condition.
