The fair will run until Sunday, January 17 and features around 20,000 community-donated secondhand books.
Club president Lance Fletcher said he was expecting plenty of holidaymakers to check out what was on offer, along with a strong local showing.
"We usually get a pretty big roll out for this one," he said.

Mr Fletcher said the summer book fair had grown in popularity since it was introduced five years ago to complement the club's long-running winter book fair.
"As more people are getting to know this one, more people are coming along," he said.
It will be the first time the book fair has been held at Tuncurry Memorial Hall, with the fair usually held at Holy Name Primary School in Forster.
The club's winter book fair in July, 2020 raised $5000.
Doors will open at the memorial hall each day from 9am-4pm.
COVID safe protocols will be in place.
