With work estimates coming in at more than the $250,000 threshold for quotations, council is now required to call for formal tenders for the project in accordance with the NSW Local Government Act, MidCoast Council community spaces, recreation and trades manager, Dan Aldridge said.

"Our plan now is to call for tenders in early November and award the project to the successful contractor in mid-December.
"The site will not be made available to the contractor until Monday, February 8."
The contractor will be required to arrange suitable access for pedestrian access to the foreshore and around the Rockpool sites, with access to the beach remaining available during works, Mr Aldridge said.

Measures also would be in place to allow the Rockpool Cafe to continue to operate without disruption.
"While it's disappointing that we can't have the Rockpool area looking its best for the summer holidays, it's important to ensure this work is completed to the high standard that our community and visitors expect."
Locals and visitors will be able to enjoy the facility over the summer school holidays, with works not beginning before February 2021.
