Federal member for Lyne, Dr David Gillespie, is encouraging Men's Sheds across the electorate to apply and says this round will prioritise applications with a strong health, wellbeing or safety emphasis.
"Now more than ever, sheds offer men a critical avenue for social support and engagement; this round acknowledges the impact of COVID-19 and the need for Men's Sheds in the recovery period and beyond," he said.
In light of COVID-19, IT equipment and training will also be prioritised to help shed members connect with each other with greater ease.
Funding is available across the following three categories:
- Category 1: Health, Wellbeing, and Events $8,000 maximum
- Category 2: Shed Improvements $8,000 maximum
- Category 3: Equipment $5,000 maximum
"To stay healthy, we all need to do regular activities with the people around us, and our local Men's Sheds have become a focal point for our towns and villages big and small," Dr Gillespie said.
"In the last round I was pleased to deliver close to $15,000 funding across three Men's Sheds delivering upgrades to dust extraction fans, a new kitchen and flammable liquid storage."
Applications for this round of funding close on Friday, November 27.
