Holidaymakers visiting for the school holidays were given a not so warm welcome to the region with a series of thefts from holiday parks in both Forster and Tuncurry.

Over the weekend of September 26-27 unsecured pushbikes, paddleboards, fishing rods and tackled, towels, wallets, handbags, shoes, beer and cigarettes were reported stolen from outside caravans and annexes.
Manning Great Lakes Police District posted on its Facebook page, this series of thefts are a timely reminder for people on holidays to ensure that valuables are stored securely inside caravans and annexes.
"As well, could you please ensure that you lock your motor vehicles and remove wallets, handbags and other items of value your vehicle."
In another incident, a Cooranbong man was charged with recklessly occasion grievous bodily harm and refused bail to appear at Taree Local Court today, Monday, September 28.
On the morning of Friday, September 25 a man and several friends attended a camping ground in the Pacific Palms area., before being joined by campers from a nearby site.
A 26-year-old Cooranbong man, who was intoxicated, also visited the site, and without provocation or warning, punched a 26-year-old Manly man to the right side of the face numerous times, causing a severe laceration above the eyebrow, and a number of facial fractures, before leaving the scene.
Police arrived and spoke with the victim and several witnesses before visiting a the offender's campsite and placed him under arrest.
He was taken to Forster police station, charged with recklessly occasion grievous bodily harm, and refused bail.
The 2020 Summer Safe Operation has begun in line with the school holidays.
For the duration of the school holidays police will be out and about in force throughout the Great Lakes.
We are expecting a higher than average influx of visitors these school holidays, a police spokesperson said.
"We will be proactively patrolling the beaches, rivers, camping areas and licensed premises to ensure that every one stays safe, employs social distancing in appropriate group sizes and adheres to the Public Health Order.
"So please consider others, stay safe and have a fabulous holiday on the Barrington Coast."
