The closed circuit television investigation program will be undertaken in the Forster Keys area by MidCoast Council.
"This investigation program is an important part of our preventative maintenance schedule," MidCoast Council infrastructure and engineering services director, Rob Scott said.
"Using closed circuit television cameras we can identify potential problems so they can be resolved before they cause any disruption to services, as well as mapping and cleaning," Mr Scott said.
The investigation work does not impact on services to homes, however to conduct the tests contractors working for council may need to gain access to some properties within the testing area.

These property owners will be contacted directly by MidCoast Council staff.
It is possible the cleaning process may cause a backflow of air into the toilet.
Customers are encouraged to leave the toilet lid down and the toilet door closed.
In the event that the cleaning process empties the toilet bowl simply flushing the toilet will refill it.
Any customers who experience any issues as a result of the investigation program are urged to contact council and report the incident.
The program is expected to run in the area until Friday, October 2 with work being undertaken between 7am and 5pm weekdays as well as some Saturdays from 7am to 1pm.
