About 5.55pm on Thursday, June 25, officers were called to John Wright Park following reports of a brawl.
Police located a 26-year-old man with blood on his face, who was allegedly threatening people in the area.
Police alleged once the man was handcuffed, he kicked out at two officers, striking one on the side of his head and the other to the forehead.
The second officer was treated by paramedics at the scene.
The man was subdued and taken to Forster Police Station where it was alleged he spat blood on two officers and attempted to physically assault them.
Paramedics attended but the man refused treatment.
He was charged with affray, resisting an officer in execution of duty and four accounts of assaulting an officer in execution of duty.
The man was refused bail and will appear at Kempsey Local Court later today, Friday, June 26.
