Together they discussed the 2020 theme 'In This Together' in class and reflected on the meaning behind it.
The children recognised that people were in a lot of things together regardless of culture and race - such as the current COVID-19 pandemic, sports teams, classes, house groups, friendship groups, school and more - and they acknowledged how those things helped to build mutual respect and understanding.
The older students also discussed Karen Mundine's words about the 2020 theme:
The National Reconciliation Week 2020 theme reinforces that we all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures.
When we come together to build mutual respect and understanding, we shape a better future for all Australians.
In class, the students decorated hands to represent themselves and placed them around the Yarning Circle.
Most classes spent time at the Yarning Circle, with one class being entertained by a couple of boys doing a rain dance - and of course it rained.
National Reconciliation Week runs each year from May 27 to June 3.
