The new local road and community infrastructure program will enable MidCoast Council, and other councils across Australia, to deliver priority projects with a focus on upgrades and maintenance to roads and infrastructure.
Dr Gillespie said the program would accelerate projects across the Manning, Great Lakes, Tea Gardens, Harrington, Stroud and Gloucester valley.
"This investment will support local jobs and businesses and boost local economies struggling under the effects of COVID-19," Dr Gillespie said.
"Every single job we support makes a huge difference in our local community as we rebuild the economy post coronavirus.
"Not only will this package support jobs, construction businesses and the economy across the Mid Coast region, it will improve our local roads and provide for new and upgraded amenities to help communities stay connected."
The program is part of a new package which also includes the fast-tracking of $1.3 billion of the 2020-21 financial assistance grant payment.
Eligible projects include bicycle or walking paths, community facilities and picnic shelters and barbecue facilities at parks.
Road projects include construction or improvement of bridges and tunnels, street lighting and rest areas.
