The company actively supports its staff in volunteering, including Port Macquarie-based SES commander and Busways bus driver, Paul Burg.
Mr Burg was instrumental in ensuring bus services continued to run during last year's catastrophic bushfire season on the Mid North Coast.
As a result, Busways now has a permanent seat on the Emergency Management Committee.
A 24-year veteran of the SES, Mr Burg has been involved in some of Australia's biggest disasters, including the 1999 Sydney hailstorm and Cyclone Yasi in Queensland in 2011.
Mr Burg said volunteering for the SES was a highly rewarding experience.
"I really enjoy being able to help people, seeing the successful end result is thanks enough," he said.

Head of human resources at Busways, Alanna Ward, said supporting staff to volunteer in turn provided support to the community when it needed it the most.
"Community volunteering is the heart of what makes us Australian," Ms Ward said.
