Dr Gillespie, a member of the Nationals, has formed the Doctors in the House team with Member for Higgins, Dr Katie Allen (Liberal), Member for Macarthur, Dr Mike Freelander (Labor), Member for Bowman, Dr Andrew Laming (Liberal National Party of Queensland) and Victorian Senator, Dr Richard Di Natale (Greens), to support the use of the COVIDSafe app.
The app is designed to slow the spread of COVID-19 using contact tracing. It helps find close contacts of COVID-19 cases.
It speeds up the current manual process of finding people who have been in close contact with someone with the virus.

"The pandemic has unfortunately a long way to run yet around the world until 60 per cent are immune, or it dies out," Dr Gillespie said.
"We have performed well in containing the first wave. Like a game of AFL, we are just finishing the first quarter of a long tough game.
"Further outbreaks will happen and we need every piece of 2020 technology in the COVIDSafe App to turbocharge tracing contacts when cases appear, as well as social distancing, handwashing, isolating and quarantining cases.
"Otherwise a second wave could gain momentum rapidly. Using the app will be great firepower to fight the virus and help keep you, family, friends and workmates safer and allow restart of the economy as we come out of the shutdown."
So far, the app has been downloaded more than five million times.
