Mid Coast residents have been urged to put their thinking caps on to come up with ideas to transform streets and public spaces.

This is part of a new State Government program designed to increase places for people to safely walk, cycle and exercise.
Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead, said the Streets as Shared Spaces fund would help MidCoast Council, and other councils across NSW, implement pilot measures to increase public space and allow for easier social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Simple changes like widening footpaths or closing a street to vehicles on weekends will make our community healthier, more walkable and easier to maintain social distancing," Mr Bromhead said.
"I'd encourage everyone in the community to think creatively about what small changes we can make that will make our lives better."
Councils can apply for grants up to $100,000 for short-term, quick response projects such as widening footpaths and temporary cycle lanes.
Up to $1 million is available for long-term projects such as changes to road alignments and lower speed limit trials.
Community input is essential for council to choose projects that will benefit all. An online social pinpoint map allows users to click directly on a specific area and leave comments and ideas.

Planning and Public Spaces Minister, Rob Stokes, said short-term projects would provide fast relief while longer term strategic projects would help communities transition out of the pandemic.
"These initiatives will make it easier to maintain social distancing, create jobs for the construction industry and encourage economic activity back into our streets," Mr Stokes said.
"If the pilot projects gain widespread community support, we'll look to make them permanent so more people can enjoy the outdoors once this pandemic is over."
Councils can apply for grants until June 30.
From Friday May 15, up to 10 people will be able to gather outside while adhering to social distancing. Households can have up to five visitors at a time.
Cafes and restaurants will be able to seat 10 patrons at a time.
You will also be able to use outdoor equipment without being cautioned. Outdoor pools will reopen with restrictions.
