That's why he's incorporated a half-hour mental health catch-up into the weekly online training sessions he's been offering while the COVID-19 pandemic runs its course.

Little more than a candid chat between Jeff and his students over Zoom combined with some fun football-related activities, it's nonetheless proven a valuable addition to the skills-based training session he runs later in the week.

This has been reflected in the amount of kids who have stuck with the training at a time when Jeff was expecting a significant drop in numbers.

"What I didn't expect was the amount of kids who would engage," he said.

With his students ranging from two-year-old toddlers to 18-year-olds, Jeff says the online sessions have also received a positive response from parents.

"The parents are really glad I've been a constant in their lives," he said.

"It seems to be really well-received."

Another thing that has been well-received has been Jeff's decision to waive all fees throughout the term.

"A lot of people have been struggling financially so I didn't want their kids to miss out on something they really enjoy," he said.

And while the online sessions have provided plenty of benefits to the students and their parents, it's also been a rewarding experience for Jeff.

"Professionally it's been an amazing thing for me," he said.

"I'd never coached online before."

Thankfully, as a teacher Jeff was going through the process of learning to deliver online classes at school, so the transition wasn't nearly as challenging as it might otherwise have been.

And he's got no plans to stop providing online coaching content, even when things do return to normal.

"It's something I'll continue to do in the future," he said.
