Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the government would fund childcare places for families that had parents who were working, studying or looking for a job
Funding, which will apply from this Monday, April 6, is based on the number of children in care in the fortnight leading up to March 2
"It is very positive given the dire situation we are dealing with at the moment," FGA Learning general manager, Amro Eishahat said.
The Seashells and Jitterbugs early learning centres in Smiths Lake and Nabiac look after up to 90 youngsters aged from 0-5 years.
Mr Eishahat said the grant would help keep services sustained.
Blossoms Children Services, Tuncurry owner, Lyn Foster praised policy makers for recognising the value of early childhood services.
"Although we recognise and appreciate that our families will be supported financially through this initiative, we have been very aware of the stresses that our community are under at the moment and any support that is provided is most welcome," Ms Foster said.
"From a business point of view we are still trying to look at the full impact this will have for my service, and for other services in our area. I
"It has to be looked at holistically.
"Although the government is supporting us with 50 per cent guarantee of our fee income and many of us will be eligible to apply for the JobKeeper payment for our staff, whether this will still cover our costs and allow us to fully support our staff in their hours is not yet fully known.
"During this we must also acknowledge our children who are today playing happily in our program and participating in our annual Easter egg hunt.
"They have an amazing understanding of what is happening, reminding each other about safe coughing and practising their handwashing techniques.
"We have also been creating lovely rainbow pictures as a way to spread happy messages within our community."
Federal Member for Lyne, David Gillespie said the plan supported families while also ensuring child care and early learning services could keep their doors open for workers and vulnerable families who need those services.
"The plan provides funding certainty to early childhood education and care services at a time where enrolments and attendance are highly unpredictable," Dr Gillespie said
"These services are vital for so many parents so they can provide for their family, and children need as much routine as we can help provide at this unsettling time.
"Priority will be given to working parents, vulnerable and disadvantaged children that need early education more than ever and parents with pre-existing enrolments.
"This plan complements more than $1 billion we expect the sector to receive through our new JobKeeper payment to help ensure many of the 200,000 vital early education workforce can stay connected to services.
"It means building a bridge for these valuable services to the other side of this virus so they can continue to play their valuable role in our workforce and education systems and so Australia can bounce back strongly."
Dr Gillespie encourage parents who had terminated enrolments since February 17 to get back in contact with centre and re-start arrangements.
"Re-starting your enrolment will not require you to send your child to child care and it certainly won't require you to pay a gap fee.
"Re-starting your enrolment will, however, hold your place for that point in time when things start to normalise, and you are ready to take your child back to their centre.
"We will get through this crisis by supporting each other and ensuring that no Australian, even though we have to be isolated, should have to go through this alone."
