The event will hit-off from 1pm on Thursday, April 2.
This is our seventh annual golf day and its success has been because of the involvement and generosity of our local community, organiser Stephen Nicholas said.
"However, as a group who takes its civic responsibilities seriously, GLEF must consider the current situation and manage the risks of COVID-19," he said.
"We will follow the advice given by the government, health authorities and Forster Golf Club.
"There is a real chance that the golf day may have to be postponed.
"However, at this stage, we have taken a risk assessment and minimisation approach."
Of the 24 local scholarship students GLEF is assisting this year, three will be supported through funds raised from the annual golf day.
We will follow the advice given by the government, health authorities and Forster Golf Club.

It is a very important part of the GLEF calendar, so why not become involved by entering a team of four, or by joining a team, sponsor a hole, donate prizes or volunteer on the day, Stephen said.
Forster Golf Club has issued the following message to its members and GLEF supports this advice for those considering involvement in the golf day:
"If your members or guests have recently returned from or transited through China, Iran, Italy, Japan, Mongolia or South Korea in the past 14 days, we recommend that they do not visit your facility for any reason, including use of the golf course only, until the 14 day period has elapsed.
"We further recommend that members or guests recently returned from or who have transited through Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand or from a cruise holiday and who are experiencing flu-like symptoms do not visit your facility, including use of the golf course only, for 14 days."
With between 80 and 100 players and organisers expected to be involved on the day we have the following scenarios ready, Stephen said.
- Hold the golf day as planned, followed by a presentation afterwards in the golf clubhouse;
- Hold a golf only tournament with no presentation afterwards;
- Postpone the tournament until an alternative date can be safely set, or
- Cancel the tournament for 2020.
Decisions relating to the golf day will be made based on government, health authority and Forster Golf Club advice.
"Public safety is our priority."
